Tickets for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 will officially go on sale in the Republic of Korea on Thursday 09 Feb to coincide with the one year to go milestone. This marks the first step for Koreans to begin their journey to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
The country welcomes the Olympic Winter Games 30 years after they hosted the Games of the Olympiad in Seoul back in 1988. The PyeongChang Organizing Committee of the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) plans to ignite the same passion and excitement that was enjoyed three decades ago and achieve their vision for the Games – to open up a new horizon in Korea and Asia by connecting the great passion of athletes and spectators live in PyeongChang.
POCOG President Hee-beom Lee said, "We feel our ticketing slogan of ‘Get your tickets and share the passion’ is a clear way to encourage people to join us in PyeongChang in a year’s time. It is a call to action for them to start planning and to join in with the excitement and wonderful memories that will be created. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be part of the first Olympic Winter Games in the Republic of Korea and for them to come and support our national athletes and watch the best Olympic winter athletes from around the world. It will be a momentous occasion and something we don’t want you to miss out on."
So if you’ve always wanted to see the speed of the skeleton up close and feel the spray of the cold ice as it thunders past you, or see how technical the aerial acrobatics of the freestyle skiers really are, or get your first taste of the atmosphere of a live ice hockey match, then the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games are a must-visit destination for you to open up new horizons.
How it works for the local market
The time has arrived for the local fans to get excited and to get planning! It is a step-by-step process that begins this Thursday from 14:00 KST through the PyeongChang 2018 ticketing website (http://tickets.pyeongchang2018.com) and will be open until the end of the day of April 23rd. All sports tickets and ceremony tickets will be available during this period.
The best chance of securing Games tickets is during this initial phase, so fans are encouraged to take the time to plan their PyeongChang 2018 Games time experience and submit their application before April 23rd in order to avoid disappointment later. Get together with your family and friends and map out your ultimate Olympic experience. No matter when you submit your request during this initial period, you have the same chance of getting tickets as other applicants, so get planning and do not let this opportunity pass you by.
The lottery results will be announced on May 8th 2017 via email until 14th May to buy the tickets that you’ve been allocated. The purchasing of your tickets is done through the official ticketing website with VISA the only accepted method of payment in Korea.
Once you have those much sought-after tickets paid for and secured, your specific seat numbers will be announced in September after the seat allocation is completed by POCOG. From September onwards, general online sales will reopen to sell any remaining tickets.
It is important to ensure that tickets are bought only from official authorized sources. Tickets can only be purchased directly from Pyeongchang 2018 or its authorized ticket resellers. Please use the Pyeongchang 2018 website checker (https://tickets.pyeongchang2018.com/atr) if in doubt about the validity of any website claiming to sell Pyeongchang 2018 tickets.
