SANTIAGO, CHILE (June 11, 2019) — On Monday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 11, Panam Sports hosted the first Orientation Seminar for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The event was attended by Neven Ilic, President of Panam Sports; Miguel Ángel Mujica, President of the Olympic Committee of Chile; Andrés Otero, Assistant Secretary of Sports; Mario Moccia, President of the Santiago 2023 Coordination Commission; and Karl Samsing, Chairman of the Board of the Santiago 2023 Corporation, among other authorities and officials of these institutions.
"We had two very productive days. As Panam Sports, we have brought professionals with a lot of experience in the Pan American Games to Chile to guide the Santiago 2023 Corporation, the Chilean Olympic Committee and the Government in different organizational aspects. I have seen a great team that is very interested in learning and working hard to conquer this great challenge that Chile is undertaking," said Panam Sports President, Neven Ilic.
The seminar, held for the first time in the history of the Pan American Games, included discussions about the brand of the Games, the structure of the Organizing Committee, details about the Pan American Village, Television Broadcasting and other services associated with the organization of the mega-event.
"We had two days of very valuable exchanges of information. Undoubtedly, those who did not have previous experience in mega-events could easily get an idea of the magnitude of the organization of these Games, and it is an important milestone for the corporation’s work," noted Miguel Ángel Mujica, President of the Chilean Olympic Committee.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Sports Minister, Andrés Otero, assured that: "We are very happy with this visit made by Panam Sports to guide us along the path we began a year ago towards the organization of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. President Piñera has set an ambitious goal under the leadership of Sports Minister Pauline Kantor: to host the best Games in history, leaving a great legacy for sport and for the city."
