(ATR) Burson-Marsteller has acquired a majority stake in Lausanne-based international sports consulting firm TSE Consulting.

TSE Consulting, which will become a fully integrated part of the Burson-Marsteller network, specialises in providing communications counsel to international sport organizations. Its clients include the UCI and Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympics. The move will strengthen the sports capabilities of Burson-Marsteller, the global strategic communications and public relations firm that is a subsidiary of WPP.

The joint entity aims to provide "a strong offer in international sports consulting and sports communications" thanks to TSE Consulting’s global network – it has regional offices in Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Middle East. Burson-Marsteller operates in 110 countries across six continents.

"The acquisition of TSE Consulting adds to Burson-Marsteller’s strong sports capabilities, reinforcing our foothold in the international capital of sports," said Donald A. Baer, chair and CEO of Burson-Marsteller.

"TSE Consulting is highly respected in the sports field and offers clients services that are very complementary to Burson-Marsteller’s in the areas of sports management and strategy consulting. The combination of our two firms creates a powerful joint offer to our current and prospective clients."

TSE Consulting managing director Lars Haue-Pedersen said there were "enormous opportunities for us to pool our expertise in the world of international sports".

"The work that TSE does for our clients will bring a new dimension to Burson-Marsteller’s existing sports practice – and Burson-Marsteller’s global network and communications expertise offer TSE Consulting the opportunity to keep building on our rapid growth and influence in international sports," he added.

Around the Rings is told that TSE will continue to trade under the TSE Consulting brand in Lausanne, the U.S. and Scandinavia. In all other markets, the company will work through the local Burson-Marsteller offices.
