MADRID (SPAIN) – 15 APRIL 2020 - The World Karate Federation regrets to inform that the Karate 1-Series A Durban has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The event was scheduled to take place in Durban (South Africa) from September 11-13.

As the third and last event of the season of 2020 Karate 1-Series A, the tournament in Durban was expected to put an end to the current edition of the first-class international competitions under the denomination Series A. The 2020 Karate 1-Series A started in Santiago (Chile) in January but the following events in Istanbul (Turkey) and Durban (South Africa) had to be suspended because of the global pandemic of Covid-19.

The decision to cancel the Karate 1-Series A Durban has been taken upon the resolution of the local authorities and the local organising committee to ensure the safety and health of athletes, staff members and fans.

The WKF continues to closely monitor the worldwide situation and remains in close cooperation with the hosts of all the events in the WKF calendar to guarantee the well-being of all the members of the Karate family.
