(ATR) The Olympic Committee of Israel reports that the country’s NOC and athletes are safe and unaffected by the nearby fighting.

Bruria Bigman, a spokesperson for the Olympic Committee of Israel, told Around the Rings that Israeli athletes are still in training, despite widespread rocket attacks between Israeli and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.

"The Olympic Committee of Israel only takes care of sports and not politics, thus we do not have a stance on the situation," Bigman said on Tuesday.

"Our attention is drawn to the situation, and we all pray that this will be over soon."

When contacted, the Palestine Olympic Committee told ATR that their president and secretary general were traveling and would reach out with comment upon their return.
