(ATR) World Archery tells Around the Rings it will allow the Iranian archery team to catch up on the first day of the Archery World Cup taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A spokesperson for World Archery tells ATR that 14 or 15 members of the country’s national archery team are now on a plane to Las Vegas. Qualification for the World Archery tournament begins Feb. 10 with the tournament taking place on Feb. 11 and 12.

The archers from Iran were delayed due to the travel ban executed by U.S. President Donald Trump which made it difficult for the archers to receive the appropriate visas to enter the country.

Exemptions were made by the U.S. State Department to allow athletes to circumvent the travel ban that restricts immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen.

According to the Iran Archery Federation website, the country’s youth team will not be attending the tournament because the coach was unable to attain a visa.

The archers received their visas in Yerevan, Armenia on Wednesday according to Iran Archery Federation president Mohammad Ali Shojaei. Despite comments in the Tehran Times from Shojaei stating the team would not attend the event, the IAF website says the federation sent their athletes to Las Vegas "in a scramble".
