The Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee for the XX Commonwealth Games has contracted Infostrada Sports to supply all historical data and athlete biographies, and to deliver and run the official Games News Service. All this information will be available in the Games Information System (GamesINFO) and on the official Glasgow 2014 website.

More than 4,500 athlete biographies and results of more than 80 years of Commonwealth Games history, as well as recent results on major competitions can be accessed through GamesINFO. Just as critically, information including athlete quotes, news items and facts & figures from the sports competitions in Glasgow will be fed into the GamesINFO system, from reporting teams working at each of the 14 venues.

In total Infostrada Sports will provide more than 75 media and journalism professionals during the Games, and recruit a similar number of volunteers in support. This will also provide a legacy for the post-Games period for Glasgow. Also of significant importance in this project, Infostrada Sports will be working even further with International Federations to gather and process information to ensure the highest quality for the International Media.

GamesINFO will follow in the tradition of other Info systems and be the main source of background and reference information for the 4,000 broadcast and print media who will cover the Games. National Commonwealth Games Associations, International Federations, the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Organising Committee itself are expected to make use of the extensive information to inform their stakeholders.

This information diffusion system is undeniably one of the most highly valued instruments at any event in providing the best possible profile and exposure for the Games, the sport and, of course, the athletes.

Infostrada Sports has significant experience in running such major sport Event News Services, having done so at the Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 and Beijing Olympic Games 2008 among a range of events. "For high quality media content Infostrada Sports is the first choice. We have set a standard hard to match or to beat, with a state of the art database that collects, collates and publishes data across a wide range of sports," said Danny Menken, CEO of Infostrada Sports.

"We have now been selected for one of the premium events on the sporting calendar, with Glasgow being our third involvement at a Commonwealth Games. We consistently show that we have the skills, expertise and experience to deliver first class content and are proud that Glasgow 2014 has chosen us for the task ahead," he said.

"Over the last 15 years we have developed a significant results and common data platform for more than 300 sports. We have been collating and validating results and athlete biographical information, which has then been made available to more than 60 major event organisers," said Menken. Infostrada Sports’ Media Services has also provided professional editorial assistance to event organisers, to overwhelming acclaim from international media.

Ty Speer, Deputy Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014, said: "The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will create a myriad of memorable moments, from records being broken to the highs and lows of athletes involved in world-class competition. A Games News Service is an essential tool for those reporting on the Games to have the best and most accurate information at their fingertips."

"Infostrada Sports has a strong track record of delivering a high standard of service at previous Commonwealth and Olympic Games and I’m delighted to have them on board," he said.
