(ATR) The third and final Friday of the Pan American Games in Peru will feature medal events in 15 sports.

Athletics will have 11, including the men’s and women’s 200m and 4x100m relays.

Rio 2016 champion in the 100m and 200m Elaine Thompson of Jamaica will want nothing less than to duplicate that feat in Lima. She won gold in the 100m on Wednesday.

The much-anticipated duel between Olympic champion Caterine Ibarguen of Colombia and world champion Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela in the women’s triple jump will not happen. Ibarguen has withdrawn with a foot injury after finishing fifth in the long jump on Tuesday.

There will be six swimming finals at the aquatics center this evening, including the men’s and women’s 50m freestyle.

Bruno Fratus of Brazil, who won silver at the FINA World Championships in South Korea last month, is the clear favorite to win the sport’s equivalent of the 100 meters in athletics.

Nathan Adrian of the USA figures to be his biggest competition. The five-time Olympic gold medalist won silver in the 100m freestyle on Thursday as he continues his strong comeback from testicular cancer.

"I'm not feeling the pressure. I came here for the experience and try to win some medals," Adrian tells Around the Rings, while admitting "I'm not where I would like to be" following two cancer surgeries earlier this year.

Argentina is in the finals of both women’s field hockey and women’s football. For the first time in seven Pan Ams, Argentina will not be facing the United States in the hockey final. Canada upset the USA in the semifinals to reach its first final since 1991.

The other sports with medals on offer on Friday are judo, karate, sailing, racquetball, rowing, speed skating, wrestling, basque pelota, BMX cycling, equestrian, and fencing.
