(ATR)The ninth edition of CISA, the International Sport Convention for Africa, kicked off in Kigali, Rwanda with an eye-opening seminar for journalists.
Around the Rings associate editor Nick Devlin is in Rwanda for the convention and says a seminar held this week for journalists provided tools for media lacking in the resources many reporters take for granted.
"What we don't realize about African journalists is that while they have the passion for journalism that you and I have, they don't have the formal schooling.
"It was a great opportunity for them to network and talk to some people that they wouldn't otherwise get to have some face-time with."
Devlin added that it was a program that could benefit sports coverage in Africa in the long-run.
CISA officially opened on March 12; the closing ceremony will take place on March 14.
Lamine Diack, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, and ex-FINA chief Moustapha Larfoui were set to recount their careers in a series of presentations on Friday.
