
(ATR)Rio 2016 president Carlos Nuzman met with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff last Friday ahead of the upcoming IOC Coordination Commission, Around the Rings has learned.
The pair, along withBrazilian Minister of Sport Aldo Rebelo, held a private meeting at Planalto Palace, the government headquarters in Brasilia. Rio 2016 tellsATR that during the meeting Rousseff reaffirmed her full support for the 2016 Olympics and her commitment to provide financial support for the construction of the Olympic Park inBarra da Tijuca.
Afterward, Nuzman invited Rousseff to a reception for Brazil's medal winners from the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
IOC vice president andOlympic hurdlerNawal El Moutawakel chairs the Coordination Commission for Rio 2016, which arrives in Brazil on Sept. 29. This marks the commission's seventh visit to Rio.
Members include: Beatrice Allen, Sergey Bubka, John Coates, Timothy Tsun Ting Fok, Alex Gilady, Pat Hickey, Nicole Hoevertsz, Nat Indrapana,Willi Kaltschmitt Lujan, Gunilla Lindberg, Julio Cesar Maglione, Alexander Popov, and C.K. Wu.
