Chaska Curling Center Named National Training Center for USA Curling

(CHASKA, Minn.) – The Chaska Curling Center, the city of Chaska and USA Curling today announced that the Chaska Curling Center has been named the USA Curling National Training Center. The partnership went into effect last fall and will run through July 30, 2019, with the intent for all parties to review the first season at that time with an eye toward a longer term arrangement.

The partnership provides the USA Curling High Performance Program (HPP) and Development Program access to the six-sheet facility for practices, camps and other events. These programs are made up of teams from the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles disciplines and also include junior and Paralympic athletes. Athletes in these programs can book ice time through Chaska’s existing reservation system.

"We are delighted to have Chaska Curling Center as our new National Training Center," USA Curling Director of High Performance Derek Brown said. "It is an amazing facility with world-class ice and ice makers, which is essential for our HP athletes to have access to for training. We are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Chaska."

Additionally, the Chaska Curling Center will have opportunities to host national events with USA Curling, community-accessible events and a summer junior curling camp.

Chaska Curling Center Manager Jeff Isaacson said the staff is looking forward to showcasing the high-quality ice at the Curling Center and seeing the impact the partnership will have locally.

"The exposure from this partnership will be a great benefit to the Chaska community, our members and our junior programs," Isaacson added.

The city of Chaska facility has already hosted the production of "Curling Night in America" and The Americas Challenge in 2018. In March 2019, the Chaska Curling Center will welcome the 2019 U18 National Championships, which will feature athletes age 18 and under. Twenty-four teams will compete in round robin and playoff format March 13-17.
