Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will now feature 22 sports and 539 medal events
Tokyo, 4 December 2019 – The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games
(Tokyo 2020) today announced that it has received notice from The International Paralympic Committee
of the removal of the Women’s 100m T52 event from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games event
schedule.
A total of four events had been provisionally approved by the IPC Governing Board under the strict
condition that these events must meet Paralympic viability standards by the time of the 2019 Para
Athletics World Championships.
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will now feature a total of 539 medal events, a reduction of one. The
limit of the number of players remains unchanged at 4,400. Please check the "Tokyo 2020 Paralympic
