(ATR) A reception with the Bulgarian president caps a week-long celebration of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.
Rosen Plevneliev said on Wednesday the 220 medals won by Bulgarians are a source of pride for the country.
Olympians and Olympic and government leaders attended the event at the Coat of Arms Hall in the Bulgarian President’s Office.
A statement on the BOC website says Plevneliev gave the BOC "one of the most valuable state awards" for its work.
"Our country can be proud of our sporting achievements," BOC president Stefka Kostadinova said when accepting the award.
The celebrations continued on Thursday with a ceremony to honor the Bulgarian Olympic medalists. IOC president Thomas Bach recorded a video message for the anniversary that was played during the event.
