Askar congratulates Al Shino on CISM presidency

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar

congratulated Bahrain’s Lt.-Col Abdulhakeem Mohamed Al Shano on becoming new

president of the International Military Sports Council (CISM).

Al Shino, the only candidate from Bahrain, was recently elected president with 44 of the

79 votes, finishing ahead of Turkey’s Col. Mesut Cerit (23 votes), and Col. Kalkaba Malboum

of Cameron (19 votes) who was third.

"It is with great pride to have an efficient Bahraini administrator as head of the largest

sports organization military, and we are proud of the fact that Al Shino became the first

GCC, Arab and Asian official to obtain this position which is a great achievement for the

Kingdom of Bahrain and Asia," said Askar.

Askar said Al Shino winning this significant number of votes underlines the trust of the

general assembly in his qualifications and experience, which promises to see a bright

future for the CISM.

The BOC acting general secretary expressed confidence in Al Shino’s ability to lead the

CISM and contribute to developing this sport worldwide, and seeking the noble goals of

the Council while unifying the armed forces in the field of sports using the motto

"Friendship through Sport".

Acknowledging the long administrative experience he gained as Vice President of

CISM-Asia, Lt.-Col. Al-Shino received significant support from the CISM-Asia member

associations support, during their second regular General Assembly.

The elections of CISM President and board members took place during the CISM Congress,

which was held in Ecuador.
