Americas Paralympic Committee General Assembly Candidates Announced

The candidates eligible for election as President, Vice-President and Member of the APC Executive Committee were announced Feb. 6.

The candidates eligible for election as President, Vice-President and Member of the Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) Executive Committee were announced on Monday (6 February).

Argentina’s Jose Luis Campo will seek re-election as APC President at the General Assembly in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 18 March, in the lead-up to the 2017 Youth Parapan American Games.

Campo was elected APC founding President in 1997 and then served two terms until 2005, when he was replaced by Brazil’s Andrew Parsons. Colombia’s Octavio Londono was President from 2009-2013.

Colombia’s Eduardo Montenegro and USA’s Julie O’Neill will run for Vice-President.

The three members for the next four-year term will also be elected, with Dominican Republic’s Eladio Agramonte, Ecuador’s Bayron Lopez, Colombia’s Pedro Mejia, USA’s Julie O’Neill and El Salvador’s Dionicio Zeledon standing as candidates.

Representatives from the National Paralympic Committees of the Americas and the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Americas are eligible to vote.

The next APC Executive Committee will be involved in the region’s main Para sport events until 2021, such as the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.

The current APC Governing Board is made up of President Jose Luis Campo, Vice-President Eduardo Montenegro, and Members Eladio Agramonte, Karen O’Neill of Canada and Dionicio Zeledon.
