(ATR) The United States Olympic Committee’s director of sport performance Alan Ashley tells Around the Rings that PyeongChang 2018 will provide ideal conditions for Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

"The Koreans have done a really good job that way, they’ve always been ahead of schedule and they are very detail oriented," Ashley says on the latest edition of ATRadio. "It’s been ahead of schedule and in really good shape."

Ashley says the cooperation with the International Federations has been instrumental in preparations for the Games in a country not typically known as a winter sports hub.

"One of the things they’ve done nicely is been really good partners to the International Federations, taken a lot of leadership from them," he says. "So the construction and operation of the venues and the quality of the way they’ve been constructed is really good, they are really sport friendly.

"And really the winter conditions when I visited in February, it was cold and snowy, the snow conditions were great so I think it will be a great Winter Games that way."

Ashley joins ATR Editor Ed Hula on ATRadio to also talk about developing new sports for Tokyo 2020 and the opportunities of hosting the Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
