(ATR) NBC Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol will join the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, one of nine inductees announced Wednesday by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Others in the class of 2005 include: Bob Hayes, Evelyn Ashford, hockey coach Herb Brooks, the 1984 U.S. men?s gymnastics team, Shannon Miller, Kristi Yamaguchi, Rowdy Gaines, Jack Shea and Paralympian Diana Golden-Brosnihan.
The Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 8 in Chicago at the Harris Theater, produced for a later TV broadcast.
Presenting sponsor is Allstate Insurance, which revived the HOF in 2004 after a 12-year hiatus. Other financial support is coming from Kleenex® brand tissue.
Hall of Fame selection is made through voting by Olympians, Paralympians, Olympic family members, media and the public. Public voting ended on Sept. 21.
